I’m not known for venturing above 42nd St in NYC to shop or stroll. I’m a downtown chic. Recently though, I had to meet a friend on Madison Ave and 67th St. Walking towards my destination, I found a jewelry designer that stood out from it’s neighbors like Dolce and Gabbana and Emanuel Ungaro.
Solange Azagury Partridge has no formal training as a jewelry designer, but had the opportunity to work with Nicky Butler from Butler & Wilson, plus Gordon Watson, a decorative arts dealer. Only after designing her own engagement ring in 1987 and receiving praises for it, did Solange decide to start her own company.
Opening her first shop in Nothing Hill, London in the year 1995, Sonalge quickly drew in an international clientele with her pieces that incorporates pop art, wayward sensuality and ancient mysticism.
Now with a several creative collaborations (H&M, Boucheron and Swarovski) under her belt, Mrs. Partridge opened her NYC store earlier this year, giving us a bit of joy to life with the jewelry she’s created.
